What must a payroll system handle in Norway?
A Norwegian payroll system must calculate gross salary with correct deductions, report to the Tax Administration via the A-melding and support payment to employees — and handle the special rules for holiday pay, employer’s contribution and OTP. Kantax covers this.
Standalone payroll or part of accounting?
For most small businesses it’s simplest and cheapest to run payroll in the same system as the accounting. Payroll is then booked automatically, you avoid an extra integration, and the A-melding is built from the accounting figures.
FAQ
Does Kantax submit the A-melding?
Yes. Kantax calculates payroll and submits the A-melding to Altinn every month.
When is the A-melding deadline?
The A-melding must be submitted by the 5th of the month after the payroll run. A system that automates this reduces the risk of late fees.
